Winemaker's Choice: Lee Lutes of Black Star Farms

Wine: Serving 2006 Arcturos Pinot Noir

Food: Braised short ribs in a cabernet franc sauce.

Why: The 2006 Acrturos Pinot Noir that you will be sampling shows ripe cherry and raspberry notes with balanced tannins and a touch of pepper on the finish. This Pinot has enough body to hold up with the bold flavors of the braised short-ribs while not overpowering it, and the fruit and pepper notes will compliment the richness of the dish.

Black Star Farms' winemaker, Lee Lutes, has been making wine in Northern Michigan for 15 years and takes great pride in the development of this states wine industry. Originally from Traverse City, Lee is not only passionate about the fruit and wines that are made from this beautiful region, but is also hopeful that this industry will continue to serve as an alternative to urban sprawl and farmland development. Together with his talented winemaking team, Lee strives to bring out the best in this regions fruit and hopes that you find the "profile" of our wines as enjoyable as he does!
