This past weekend's Sip and Savor event was a huge success. The PJ contest really took the event to a new level of fun! Matching couples, bagpipes, and a nightmare were all spotted on the trail. Everyone looked great! Votes are being tallied, and the winners will be announced on Friday, May 8. Thank you for participating!

I was a great weekend, although I was a bit tired of wearing my pjs and robe from place to place. We had a great time and the other folks in the tour that we ran into were really great.
By the way, congrats to Chateau de Leelanau Vineyard & Winery for eliminating their practice of charging tour participants for any tastings beyond the offered wine of the day. We were very pleased as were the 6 other folks with us and we all ended up buying wine from them which we haven't done for the last couple of tours because of their insistance on chaging the extra. I know it is a small amount but it's the principal. They were the only ones who had this practice. I, for one, am happy to see that they dropped it for this tour and hope they continue that practice.
I would like to say I really enjoyed this weekend. It was our first time doing this event. We enjoyed that fact that there was a theme. My husband I were celebrating our wedding anniversary..our 23rd. We think this was a great way to celebrate. We will diffently be back next year. And hope that there will be another theme.
This was the first year I attended the event and had a great time. The weather was perfect also. My sister, my son's girlfriend and I will do this again. We came in our pjs and were a bit surprise that so few dressed for the theme. Got some strange looks from some attending but most people had a good laugh at the rag curlers. I also hope there will be another theme next year. AWESOME.
Our group of six women had the best time! We were known as the "60's" as our numbers were 61-66, and also called by many as the "grape-footed ladies". We so enjoyed wearing our pajamas, grape flip-flops, robes, cork necklaces and bracelets. The wine was terrific, as expected, the weather perfect for May, and the memories abundant. Thanks to all for making it such fun. Hopefully the spirit of the bagpiper (Gary Krueger), the Kentucky Derby hat couple, the men with the fishing hats, the Ohio "sparkly shirt" ladies, and our decked out group will pull in more people participating with a themed-event for next year. Can't wait to hear what next year's assignment will be…you can count on us to be in full regala!
Final note, in regards to Chateau de Leelanau…we did not visit them this year, out of protest of their practice of charging for tastings beyond the weekend's paired selection during both the Sip & Savor and the September event. I'm sure we were not the only people to remove them from the list this year, and were surprised last year to be asked to pay while we were participating in the weekend. I'm happy to hear that they have now jumped on board with the rest of the wineries, and will visit them for next year's event.
Our friends from Midland insist that I bring the pipes.(btw there is a Highland festival there June 13th at the Tridge) Bringing the pipes is a lot of fun for me and I get some practice time in that I would miss (I am a competing piper still, even at my age.) I like wine but I am usually the designated driver so I don't do that much tasting. I thought those who took the challenge and dressed in PJS were winners already.
Glad our friends the Kruegers dressed in PJ's and that Gary brought and played the pipes. Everyone in our party, a total of 8 had a great time! We too did not approve of Chateau de Leelanau extra wine tasting charge so we did not participate. In the future we hope they get with the program and NOT charge for additional tastings like every other winery on the tour. Last year we brought friends from WI. This year someone from OH. We are trying to introduce the wonderful selections of wines from our great state of MI to others. We are spreading the word. Keep up the good work LPWineries!
