Wine writer Sandra Silfven of the Detroit News has an excellent feature on Leelanau County wineries that has a lot of information about Leelanau wineries and is well worth a read.
The article also has some general information abou t the Michigan wine industry including information that 1 million people visited the state's 45 wineries last year, generating an economic impact estimated at more than $100 million. Michigan ranks eighth in wine grape production nationwide, with more than 1,500 acres of vineyards.
